We will gladly advertise SENG groups in future newsletters--please let us know if you are starting one. NW Gifted Child Association is entering a time of growth, and of change. With the new laws mandating highly capable programs for all grade levels, demand for our services and our conference is growing rapidly. In response, NWGCA must evolve as well. -- Austina De Bonte, President, NWGCA A Note from the President SENG Model Parent Discussion Groups Invite us to speak to your parent group The mission of NWGCA is to reach out to parents of gifted children across the state and provide resources, coaching, and advice about raising gifted children. NWGCA Board Members love to speak to parent groups. Please email us if you would like to schedule a speaker. WAETAG Conference on Oct 17 & 18 The annual Washington Association of Educators of the Talented and Gifted (WAETAG) conference will be held in Tacoma, WA. This year's theme is "Gifted Learners...Beyond the Stereotypes." NWGCA will be presenting "Social and Emotional Needs of Gifted" on Friday, and "What Parents Need to Know about Smart Kids" on Saturday. Stop by and introduce yourself at our information table during breaks! More information Registration Arrowsmith presentation on Nov 4 Barbara Arrowsmith-Young, author of "The Woman Who Changed Her Brain," will be giving a FREE presentation on November 4 from 7-9pm at the Redmond Marriott. The Arrowsmith program she developed is a fascinating approach to correcting learning disabilities, and is particularly appropriate for twice exceptional individuals, both kids and adults. The Arrowsmith program is available in Bothell and Redmond. More information Pre-register (FREE) Math Enrichment There are lots of ways to get math enrichment during the school year. From local classes, to online classes, to some really clever book series and texts for young and old, there's a lot out there.
