Opening Keynote:
8:30 Nancy Cartwright, PhD -- Beyond Boredom and Anxiety: Connecting Learning to Life for Gifted Students. Cartwright will help parents understand some of the reasons behind gifted student boredom and anxiety. Her interactive message will also provide guidance in developing a learning engagement action plan to connect gifted students to their educational experiences and life beyond school.

9:45 – 11:30 Breakout sessions:
Parents will have the opportunity to participate in their choice of interactive forums in which they can ask questions, share with other parents and gifted education experts their parenting challenges and successes.

9:45 – 10:30 Sandra Wentworth, PhD. Central Washington University, “Advocating for your child and gifted program in your school.” Develop skills and tactics for working with teachers and schools to meet your child’s education needs
10:45 - 11:30 “Communicate effectively with your gifted child“
9:45 – 11:30 Open Forum – panel discussion Come share your questions with a panel of parents, teachers, and administrators in a facilitated forum.

Closing Keynote:
11:45 Steven E. Curtis, Ph.D., NCSP -- Keeping the Passion Alive: Avoiding Underachievement. Academic and life underachievement is a fear of many parents and a reality for many of today's gifted youth. How can parents help ensure that their child discovers and follows the path to success? Finding one's passion is often the key to self-motivation and personal success. In this presentation, Dr. Curtis will help parents understand their child's unique needs, how to develop a plan of action for success, how to implement success principles in daily life and keep one's personal passion alive.

In addition, parents will participate in two interactive forums in which they can ask questions and share their successes with their own children with other parents.

10:45 Hone your parenting skills to help your child manage giftedness.
