Board Member Application for Volunteer Position Openings

​Please answer the following questions to help us get to know you better, assess your candidacy for the NWGCA board of directors, and find a best-fit role for you on our board:

     NWGCA's mission, and then write 1-2 paragraphs in response to each of the following questions.
    What volunteer position/role would suit your talents and passions the best? Why is this volunteer position a good fit for you? 
    Current open roles in our board are:
    • Newsletter Co-Chair/Co-Editor
      • Identifying and collating content for newsletter, using Constant Contact as our newsletter editing/mailing platform, creating and sending four or more newsletters annually
    • Website Co-Chair/Co-Editor
      • Adding events to website, maintaining timely/current web content, using Weebly as our website editing platform, easy drag & drop, no programming required
    • Regional Events Co-Chair
      • Event planning/coordination for online and in-person events
    • Board Member Engagement Chair
      • Ongoing recruitment of new board members, encouraging more socialization/sharing/partnership among current board members
    • Membership Chair
      • Planning strategy & execution for increasing outreach/membership in our free mailing list & Facebook, transcribing e-mail addresses on signup sheets into constant contact from in-person events
    • Diversity & Equity Chair
      • Driving equity initiatives, becoming a subject matter expert in diversity & equity issues as they relate to giftedness, including race, low-income, LGBTQ, English language learners, etc.
    • Corporate Governance Chair
      • Ensuring compliance with nonprofit, government rules, maintaining bylaws, educating board members as to the responsibilities of a non-profit board member, etc.
    • Giving Chair
      • Send thank yous and receipts to donors
    We are open to ideas for other roles! What is your passion project? What skills do you bring?
    We expect all board members to contribute 30-50 volunteer hours per year, through occasional (3-4 per year) board meetings, our annual board weekend retreat in September, participating in email conversations, and whatever projects/events you contribute to. Board members are expected to contribute significantly to at least one event or major project per year. Other board members will cheerfully provide support, coaching, and relevant history to help get you started, partner with you, and keep you going strong! ​
    Please provide two references who can speak to your ability to work in groups, your ability to organize and/or projects and/or events, and/or other relevant work or volunteering experience.
